Do you believe that a person can be a Jack/Jane of all trades and still thrive? Experience success? Why or why not?
I was introduced to the “limitless life” about 3 years ago by Lauren Lake. You might know her from MGM TV’s Paternity Court. You can watch her story here. I stumbled upon a video about her in which it was said that she studied law, which makes her an attorney; but at one point in her life she decided that she wanted to be a full time singer, so that’s exactly what she did. She’s now a television show host, an author and I’m sure many other things, including a wife and mom. What I remember vividly from her interview was her saying that you can be whatever you want to be… that the label you give yourself is what you are, so if you want to be many things call yourself by all those things, or don’t label yourself at all. It’s just that simple.
Up until I saw this video, I did see career paths as one-dimensional. I always received advice that in order to be successful you need to hone in on a skill and make that your “thing”. Sure you could dibble and dabble in other interests but I’d never truly heard of someone “owning” multiple titles related to careers in several unrelated industries. Lauren become my living example that anything is possible and guess what!
I’ve subscribed to the limitless life ever since.
I have the hardest time telling people “what I do for a living” because limitlessness is really heard to describe. Lol Most people still operate the way I was operating 3 years ago, with one dominant career path and maybe a side hustle or hobby here and there. And let’s talk about the side hustle.
Who says that you have to do that second thing on the side? Why not do them both with the same length and breath?
I mean obviously there are only 24 hours in each day, 8 of which you should be using to sleep and prepare for sleep, so you can only do so much in one day. However, you could learn to manage your time in such a way that allows you to indulge in it all. One piece of the beautiful puzzle at a time.
Listen I don’t know who I’m here to convince. It might be you. It might be someone else.
But what I know and need you to take away anyway, is that I have never felt more alive than I do subscribing to the limitless life. As soon as I removed the limits, ish started to pop off. I bet you’ll come writing to me once you try it too.
Signing off.
Yours Truly,
